In Quechua and Inca tradition, Pachamama is described as the earth goddess presiding over planting and harvesting. Pachamama is often translated more simply into “Mother Earth.”
We recognize the role Mother Earth plays in sustaining all that is beautiful and bountiful around us, nourishing our bodies, minds, hearts and souls.
We are committed to honoring and caring for her through regenerative gardening with a focus on rebuilding healthy soils, creating habitat, supporting pollinators and reminding people of the awe nature inspires.
We acknowledge our presence on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples. As an organization committed to continued stewardship of these lands, we feel it is important to acknowledge the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (the Los Angeles basin and So. Channel Islands) and pay our respects to the Honuukvetam (Ancestors), ‘Ahiihirom (Elders) and ‘Eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging.
More about the founder, Sara Saxonberg
Hello and welcome to Pachamama Inspired. My name is Sara and I am a Landscape Designer and Garden Consultant with deep roots in Culinary Artistry and Urban Agriculture. I am committed to fostering Earth Stewardship through responsible landscape design and gardening.
My intention for founding Pachamama Inspired has been to create a resource for people to learn more about the outdoors and find sources of inspiration within their own backyard. My designs result in beautiful, multifunctional outdoor spaces that rely on California friendly plants and sustainable materials. I also love adding edible plants, and inspiring my clients to cook with them whenever possible. As a UC Certified Master Gardener, an EPA WaterSense recognized Water Efficient Landscape Professional, and also a professionally trained Chef, I am able to offer Garden Consultation Services that consider the whole environment and support my clients through every aspect of growing and maintaining a garden.
My resume includes a diverse range of experience from cooking at notable Los Angeles restaurant establishments including A.O.C., the Strand House, and catering for the Lucques Group. My appreciation for locally grown, outstanding ingredients lead me out of the kitchen and into the garden where, through a twist of fate, I discovered the Landscape Design profession. There I was blessed with an opportunity to work for a wonderfully talented and well respected Landscape Architecture firm where my skill set was again transformed. Through Landscape Design and Garden Coaching, I found a medium to create meaningful and positive change within my community.
I have been blessed with a unique range of mentorship opportunities with an incredibly talented lot of chefs, farmers and landscape professionals. It is now my mission is to share all of that knowledge, and help others become fulfilled and inspired by Mother Nature. I am also a mother myself, to an incredible son who shares my passionate love of nature and inspires me to foster positive environmental change starting at home. When people fall in love with their landscapes, they also fall in love with the Earth and become more connected with its inhabitants big and small. I welcome the opportunity to work with you.
